Twentythree bed racing teams and hundereds of spectators gathered in downtown Lawrenceville on March 16th for the 4th Annual Bed Race sponsored by Family Promise of Gwinnett County. Family fun was had by all as spectators enjoyed the parade of beds and voted for the People's Choice Award by placing tickets in the bucket of their favorite bed. Families enjoyed all the fun, food and music of the Spring Green Festival. David Chandley from Channel 2 Action News was the Grand Marshall and race announcer for the day. Racing around the Historic Courthouse began at 11:30am with each bed racing team running two heats to find out their overall time and determine which teams would race for the finals. The day ended with a closing ceremony to celebrate the winning teams. The real winners are the homeless children and their families in Gwinnett County that will benefit from the services of Family Promise as the event raised over $30,000 to end homelessness - one family at a time!
