Volunteer
Family Promise of Gwinnett County, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) and non-denominational organization for families in transition. Gwinnett County is one of over 139 Networks across the United States. Participating in these Networks are over 4,500 congregations and 110,000 volunteers. Family Promise would not exist without the many volunteers who work to help make this program a success.
There are many ways in which you as an individual or as part of a group can volunteer. Please indicate your interest below:
Office Angel Volunteer – Office volunteers are needed at the Family Promise Day Center to work one of three daily shifts. Responsibilities include answering the phone, light office work, and some interaction with the families. Shifts are as follows Monday through Friday:
- 7:30 am to 9:30 am
- 9:30 am to 1:00 pm
- 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm
Van Driver – Volunteer drivers provide transportation to employment interviews, housing searches, medical/dental appointments and to social service agencies in a 15-passenger van.
Truck Driver – Every Sunday morning at 7:00 am a volunteer driver will arrive at the Host Congregation in a 14 foot box truck and pick up the belongings of the families and transport these items back to the Family Promise Day Center. At 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon another volunteer driver will drive the truck to the next Host Congregation and deliver the items for the families. Volunteers will be at each church to assist with loading and unloading of items.
Other Oppoortunities - Opportunities for Sunday School classes or Small Groups to do as a group as well as an opportunities for the whole family to volunteer on some level. (These would require a short training session at a later date)
